AstraZeneca has asked the FDA to allow adults ages 18 to 49 to be able to give themselves the vaccine, or to give it to children as young as age 2, citing a “usability study” showing people can do it properly without a health care provider present. If approved, it would be the first flu vaccine cleared for self-administration.Patients would still need to go through an online pharmacy system to order the vaccine, which would then be shipped to their home in temperature-controlled packaging, AstraZeneca’s Dr. Lisa Glasser told CNN.The hope is that a self-administered flu vaccine option could increase uptake; while the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends eve...

Football Super League court ruling set for December

Published Tue, 04 Mar 2025 12:33:35 GMT

The EU’s top court will rule on the breakaway Super League case against European football governing body UEFA on December 21, according to an official with direct knowledge of the matter. After launching and immediately collapsing during a two-day furor in April 2021, Super League backers complained that UEFA ran an illegal monopoly in European football. Their case — supported by Super League holdouts Real Madrid and FC Barcelona, plus promoter company A22 — was referred to the Court of Justice of the European Union by a Madrid court, and was heard in Luxembourg in July 2022.  UEFA disputes the monopoly accusation, and the court’s advocate general came down firmly on the governing body’s side in an opinion published last December. In that opinion, the legal aide to the EU’s highest court said the bloc’s competition rules shouldn’t prevent UEFA from punishing rebel clubs. UEFA and world governing body FIFA have the right to use tough measures to p...

Chilly Start, Warm-Up Ahead

Published Tue, 04 Mar 2025 12:33:35 GMT

Brrr…. A little bit of chill in the air to say the least this morning. In all honestly, we’re late to the frost/freeze party for many inland locations, so to see temps in the mid 30s across MetroWest is pretty typical for the time of year. None-the-less, it is cool, and one of the cooler starts we’ve had since last Spring. Winds are light and will be light all day as highs head back into the lower 60s this afternoon. The big warm-up begins tomorrow with highs recovering in the lower 70s in the afternoon. We’ll do it again Thursday, Friday and into Saturday. Saturday, we peak the warmth as highs push into the upper 70s, near records for the time of year. It’ll stay mainly dry into the weekend, although some showers are possible late Sunday.
